Business quality
A moat (a brand, a network, switching costs, patents, scale, a licence) is not a number in the filings, so Valerius doesn’t score it. Below are the figures and the words moat analysis starts from, from the company’s own 10-K filings. The conclusion is yours.
Return on capital, each year
Above 15% in 4 of 10 years (2016-2025); lowest -33.4%, highest 40.4%.
Gross margin, each year
Between -1.8% and 57.9% over 4 years (a range of 59.7 points).
Competition, in the company’s own words · 10-K filed Feb 18, 2026
Our industry is subject to a wide range of governmental regulation and oversight. Laws, regulations, taxes, fees and other policy implementation actions affecting our industry have been pervasive and are under constant review for amendment or expansion. Numerous government agencies have issued extensive regulations which are binding on our industry and its individual members, some of which carry substantial penalties for failure to comply. These laws and regulations increase the cost of doing business and consequently affect profitability. Public policy changes are commonplace, and changes to existing laws and regulations are frequently proposed or implemented. Moreover, it is often difficult to quantify all associated compliance costs as such amounts may be indistinguishable components of our general capital expenditures and operating expenses. Accordingly, we are unable to predict the future cost or impact of regulatory compliance, though we do not expect such compliance costs or impacts to affect our operations materially differently than other similarly situated companies. However, based on regulatory trends and increasingly stringent laws and permitting requirements, our capital expenditures and operating expenses related to environmental and other regulations have increased over the years and will likely continue to increase. For more information on our environmental capital expenditures specifically, see the sustainability and EHS discussion earlier in this report.

Return on capital = operating income / (total assets − current liabilities), the ROIC row’s definition; 15% is the framework’s return threshold. For a year whose 10-K financial data has no standard operating income figure, earnings before interest and taxes (pre-tax income plus interest expense) is used. Gross margin = gross profit / revenue. Both from each year’s 10-K via SEC EDGAR. Moat analysis commonly looks at whether returns and margins held up over many years. These figures don’t say whether the company has an advantage, what it is, or whether it will last.
Capital allocation, 2022-2025: dividends or buybacks paid in every year (pass); $10.60B paid out against $7.95B of free cash flow (fail: paid out more than free cash flow); total debt $6.70B to $8.59B, up 28.2%, 1.1x EBITDA (pass: at most 2x EBITDA); shares outstanding 0.65B to 0.62B, down 4.7% (pass). 3 of 4 tests passed; the framework scores that as 4.

These are events the company reported to the SEC. An auditor change or a late filing can have many causes; each date links to the filing, where the company explains it. Valerius does not score these.
Graham Formula:
IV = EPS x (8.5 + 2g) x (4.4 / Y)
EPS = $4.59, g = 0.0%, Y = 4.5
g floored at 0.0% (3-year EPS CAGR was -15.5%; below -4.25% the formula returns a negative value)
IV = $38.15
Current price $50.73 vs Graham value $38.15 — price is 33.0% above the model value.
DCF:
FCF/share = $0.711
Stage 1 growth = 6.1% for 5 years | terminal growth = 3.0% | discount rate = 10.0%
Y1: $0.755 → PV $0.686
Y2: $0.801 → PV $0.662
Y3: $0.850 → PV $0.638
Y4: $0.902 → PV $0.616
Y5: $0.957 → PV $0.594
Stage 1 PV sum = $3.20
Terminal value at end of Y5 = $14.08
PV of terminal value = $8.74
DCF value = $11.94
Current price $50.73 vs DCF value $11.94 — price is 325.0% above the model value.Data from yfinance summary figures and financial statements, and from the company’s 10-K filings via SEC EDGAR; computed at a price of $50.73. Every score is calculated from the figures by the framework’s fixed rules, and the explanation beside it is generated from the same figures: Graham value, DCF value, margin of safety, ROIC, profit margins, debt-to-equity, price-to-book, EPS trend, ROE trend, free cash flow, retained earnings and capital allocation. No AI is involved in this scorecard. The moat is shown as evidence, without a score. Read each score with the figures beside it.
